The Madras Superior Court rejected the Indian Netflix plea to dismiss Dhanush author’s rights against actress Nayanthara on Tuesday. The suit has been activated for the use of a three -second film clip produced by Dhanush in Nayanthara’s documentary about Netflix, entitled Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale, without the consent of the award -winning national actor.
What is the case?
In November last year, Dhanush filed a civil lawsuit against Nayanthara, her husband Vignesh Shivan and her producer Rowdy Pictures Pvt Ltd. The demand alleges that the filmmakers have used scenes of the Dhanush movie ‘Naanum Rowdy Dhaan’ in the original nayanthara of Netflix: Beyond the fairy tale.
The Dhanush production company, Wunderbar Films PVT, also presented a petition in search of permission from the Superior Court to sue Cats Production Services India LLP. India LLP Production Services cats is an entity based in Mumbai that manages Netflix content investments in India.
The actress hits Dhanush
This legal action has been taken after Dhanush’s warning that he would take legal measures if the controversial content in the Nayanthara documentary was not eliminated in 24 hours. At the same time, on November 16, Nayanthara responded to Dhanush for sending a legal notice and demanding RS 10 million rupees. The actress issued a long statement about her Instagram handle calling Dhanush for being unfair.
In this long note, Jawan’s actor declared that during the recently released Netflix documentary ‘Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale’, he had looked for Dhanush’s permission to use scenes from his film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan 2015. However, Dhanush He refused to allow them and, instead, sent them a legal notice to use images behind the scene of the movie sets.
