A drug cartel capo, which survived two murder attempts in the past, was arrested in the United Kingdom after the agents tracked publications on their wife’s social networks on their luxurious foreign trips.
Luis Grijalba, 43, wanted in the United States to export cocaine in Costa Rica, traveled to London to sound in the new year with his wife, Estefania McDonald Rodríguez.
However, his glamor escape ended with arrest after the agents of the American drug control administration tracked his wife’s social networks on visits to the United Kingdom and Paris.
In a publication, Grijalba and his wife, seen with a coat with cream leather, were represented in front of the Eiffel Tower. Then, the couple traveled to the United Kingdom, where Grijalba was seen near the London bridge.
The American agency had to get Grijalba while it was out of Costa Rica, since the nation usually prohibits its own extradition.
The officers of the National Crime Agency arrested Grijalba in London. Randall Zúñiga, of the Costa Rica Judicial Investigation Agency, said that Grijalba, generally cautious and traveling separately from his wife, seemed too relaxed this time, allowing the authorities to act.
“His wife traveled a lot outside the country and published about social networks. They went to Colombia and Europe a lot. They had recorded several trips. She uploaded many photos. The DEA had been following Grijalba for several months and was waiting for the international arrest warrant to be ready, “he said.
“They informed us of the arrest, but it was their work. There was no open case in Costa Rica for which it could be arrested, “said the officer of the Costa Rica Judicial Agency.
Luxurious trips
Rodríguez published the content of the social networks that showed their trips, including luxury hotels, iconic reference points and beach photos with parrots.
Meanwhile, Luis Grijalba, facing charges in the US for cocaine traffic, is disputing his extradition. His case was postponed until next month.
An NCA spokesman said The sun: “Luis Picado Grijalba, 43, was arrested in the area of the London bridge on December 29 and detained. Extradition procedures are ongoing. “
He has already faced two murder attempts in Costa Rica. The drug murders of Costa Rica have increased by an amazing 60 percent in a decade.
