Ruby Dhalla, a Canadian politician of Indian origin, is making history by running for the leadership of the liberal party and potentially becoming the first woman in Canada. Dhalla emphasized the importance of diversity within the party and in the country’s debates.
As a businesswoman made, a doctor and three times member of Parliament, Dhalla believes that she has the experience of navigating the challenges of Canada. He identified the growing cost of housing, the increase in crime rates, the increase in food prices and the threat of US tariffs as key problems faced by Canadians. “Given the tariff threats faced by Canada, it will have a great impact on Canadian workers and the Canadian economy,” Dhalla added.
Dhalla’s personal story is one of the humble beginnings. Born in Winnipeg of immigrant parents, she achieved her Canadian dream through hard work and determination. He added that his life says a lot about the opportunities that exist in Canada. He also accredited Pierre Trudeau, current Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, for opening the doors of Canada to immigrants in the 1970s.
She said: “My mother came to Canada in 1972 and I have the opportunity to, through her wishes, through a lot of hard work, impulse and determination, but also for the great country that is Canada, to fulfill a Canadian dream . “
Regarding India-Canada’s relations, Dhalla emphasized the importance of strengthening ties, given the great Indian diaspora in Canada. She believes that Canada should explore associations with other countries, including India, to mitigate the impact of US tariffs.
Speaking in Hindi, he added: “Jitne Bhi Humare Canada Principal Business Log Hain, Hain, unko bhi ek Ek Opportunity Milni Chahiye Ki Wo Baki dishon Ke Saath Kaam Kar Sake.” (Workers and businessmen in Canada must also have the opportunity to work with other countries).
Dhalla has been working with the Liberal Party since he was 14 years old. The leadership campaign focuses on the reconstruction of the Liberal and Canada party. His slogan, ‘The return of Canada begins now’ reflects his commitment to address the challenges of the country. In response to the criticism of Pierre Poilievre on the harmful impact of the Liberal Party on the Society and the Canadian economy, Dhalla described his initiatives to address crime, housing and food prices, and taxes.
Finally, its objective is to create a competitive economy that supports companies, businessmen and young people. With his international experience, he hopes to restore Canada’s reputation on the world stage and build strong associations with other countries. She said: “It is important that we bring Canada to the country that was very respected on the world stage, that we work with other countries to ensure that we continue to build great associations and excellent relations.”
