The Directorate of Public Health and Preventive Medicine has notified the process for recruitment for urban health and wellness centres (U-HWCs).
Under the process, four workers, including one medical officer, one staff nurse, one multipurpose health worker (of health inspector – grade II) and one support staff, will be recruited. The DPH has issued a notification to this effect on Thursday. All staff will be recruited on contract basis.
Public health director T.S. Selvavinayagam has urged the Greater Chennai Corporation commissioner to start the process of appointing human resources for the 60 U-HWCs through the city health society.
The district health officers will coordinate with the respective health society for the 148 U-HWCs, the director of DPH said. Among the districts, Chengalpattu will have 10, Madurai will have 18, Tiruppur and Tirunelveli will have 12 each, and Tiruchi will have 13 U-HWCs.
The GCC commissioner will be responsible for engaging human resources for the 60 centres under its purview. The human resources for these centres will come from the City Health Society. For 148 centres in districts, the district health societies will cater to the requirement.
The last date to receive application for appointment is March 24. The applications will be evaluated by March 26 and an interview for the posts will be held on April 1. The results will be declared on April 2.
