When it comes to food updates, Padma Lakshmi never stops impressing. From hosting cooking programs to sharing tips and tricks on Instagram, he keeps his followers hooked with all delicious things. On Friday, he published a video that explains why washing rice is an essential step in the kitchen. “So, what people do not realize is that the first important step to cook Basmati rice is to rinse it,” says Padma Lakshmi.

Holding a rice bowl, Padma Lakshmi shows the murky water of the first rinse and explains that the rinse eliminates the starch. She explains how you should continue to rinse until the water runs “clear”. Padma Lakshmi mentions that people do not wash their rice because they think it eliminates nutrients. “They raised me to wash the rice,” he adds. According to her, eliminating starch ensures that rice is perfectly “spongy.” She describes the process as “meditative”, saying that she loves standing next to the window, turning the rice in the water.

In his subtitle, Padma Lakshmi wrote: “Do not forget to rinse your basmati rice until the water runs clear! What you don’t see is that I rinsed this rice at least seven times before I was ready to cook. ”

Yes, he used a microwave to prepare this comforting food classic. Your coverage? A heavenly combination of butter, yogurt and a tapatio spicy sauce drizzle for that burning kick.

Padma Lakshmi began drilling the potato everywhere with a knife or a fork to let the steam escape. Then, he placed it in the microwave for a few minutes until he softened and cooks perfectly.
