Kolkata:
An employee of the West Bengal Government stabbed at least four of his colleagues for allegedly that the license was denied, authorities said Thursday. The defendant, identified as Amit Kumar Sarkar, worked in the Karigari Bhavan Department of Technical Education in the Kolkata Newtown area.
Sarkar used a knife to stab to his colleagues and then walked through the city with the gun.
A video of him walking around the city with the blood stained knife in his hand appeared in which he can be seen walking with a bag on the back and another at hand in broad daylight. You can see some passersby filming the defendant on their mobile phones, and Sarkar warns them that they do not approach him.
“Sarkar, resident of Ghola in Sodepur, North 24 Parganas district, works in the Department of Technical Education. This morning, after a Tiff with his colleagues for taking a free time, he attacked them with a knife and then tried to flee.” He said a senior police officer.
The injured people, identified as Jaydeb Chakraborty, Santunu Saha, Tartha Tarter and Sheikh Satebul, were taken to a nearby hospital to receive treatment. It is said that two of them are critical.
According to the police, the defendant had a fight with his colleagues for the issue of the license. However, the reason behind the license is not yet known.
The defendant has been arrested and more investigations are being carried out, authorities said.
Police also suspect that man had mental health problems.
