CMF by Nothing made its debut in the smartphone segment with its first smartphone in alignment, the CMF phone 1. The last smartphone of the sub-marca Nothing brings some interesting features and specifications to attract customers. The phone is available for RS 15,999 for the 6 GB + 128 GB model, while the 8 GB RAM option of high -end + 128 GB comes with a price of RS 17,999. The company has added its flavor by offering something unique for customers. This time, the rear panels on the CMF 1 phone are adjustable.
The telephone also has modest features, which include a 7300 SOC Dimensity, a super grinding screen, a decent camera set and more. However, is it enough to really stand out between the crowd and be the best budget smartphone in India? Let’s take a close look at this in -depth review.
Cmf phone 1 design: equal but different
- Dimensions – 164x 77x 8 mm
- WEIGHT – 197 G
- Colors: black, orange, blue, light green
The CMF 1 phone brings some interesting features to the table. However, you get the same standard aspect in the first glance. But things seem to be more “industrial” when you turn it. There are screws in each corner of the device and an ‘accessories’ in the lower part that are part of the design athletics.
Now, this is where things get interesting. The company gives you the option to exchange rear panels. The whole process is relatively easy, but be sure to first remove the SIM tray before changing the rear panel. That said, adjustable panels come with a price of RS 1,499 each. Black and light green have a matt finish, while orange and blue offer a vegan leather finish.
The accessory point on the CMF 1 telephone also allows you The box. All experience is good enough, although there is always fear of missing screws.
That said, once you have finished with the entire DIY session, you will enjoy using the phone. The CMF 1 phone does not feel cheap from any angle, although everything is plastic.
CMF Telephone 1 screen: soft and vibrant
- Display – 6.67 inches Full HD+ Super Amoled Display
- Update speed: 120Hz screen update speed
- Other features: 960Hz PWM Dimming, HDR10+, 2000 Nits Maximum Brillo
CMF Phone 1 offers a versatile screen in this price segment. The smartphone is loaded with an adaptive screen update speed of 120 Hz and a 240Hz touch sampling speed, which makes the full and buttercy displacement experience. The smartphone can only run 120Hz or 60Hz, and there are no intermediate modes such as the popular 90Hz.
Upon reaching the performance, it will definitely disappoint you. The screen offers vibrant and clear colors that make it a good phone for content consumption.
The phone offers two color modes: alive and standard. The first is better, in my opinion, since it offers a better color production while playing or watching videos.
The telephone also comes with up to 2,000 nits of maximum brightness, which makes it good enough to see an outdoor instagram drill without much to interfere with the eyes. There is also a visualization mode always on, which is disguised in a view display configuration. It is quite basic and only shows information, date and weather information.
CMF Software Phone 1: Clean user interface
- Software: Nothing of the operating system 2.6
- Version – Android 14
- Last security patch – July 1, 2024
CMF Phone 1 offers a clean user interface. Nothing has provided a different appearance with the Nothing operating system; The same is true with this version. The user interface does not offer Bloatware, and you get the personalized monochromatic elements that make it stand out among the crowd.
You can also customize the user interface to your own taste, which is also quite easy. In addition, with the AI wallpaper, you can generate your own wallpapers, a feature that should also be available on other phones. It also obtains an experimental feature that allows you to easily combine Apple Airpods with the device.
CMF Telephone 1 Performance: Perfect for daily use
- Processor – MediaTk Dimensity 7300
- Memory – up to 8GB (LPDDR4X)
- Storage – 128 GB (UFS 2.2)
The CMF Phone 1 is one of the few phones used by the latest mediatek dimensity 7300 chipset. OPPO OPPO RENO 12 AND RENO 12 PRO that uses a personalized version of this chipset, known as Dimensity 7300-Energy. The latest MediaTk processor is not a direct successor of Dimensity 7200 but an updated version of dimension 7050.
I directed some of the reference points, and you can see them at the table below, along with the competition.

The performance of the CMF Phone 1 is soft in everyday life. Whether you change between different applications or watch movies, you will not face any delay or stutter. The phone is also capable of a great multitasking.
The CMF 1 telephone offered a soft game experience while playing Call of Duty: Mobile for predetermined graphics (quality of very high graphics, high picture speed).
In addition, I did not stutter when I maximized the configuration to very high graphics and maximum frame speeds. Thermal management was also good. For almost an hour of the game sessions, the phone becomes slightly warm, which is good.
The phone is also loaded with a fingerprint sensor on the screen, which is fast, and I did not face any problem during the review period. However, the unique speaker is a disappointment. The speaker is strong enough but lacks details, so he does not make a pleasant experience while watching videos.
CMF Phone 1 cameras: you need optimization
- Rear-rear Sony IMX882 of 50 megapixels with f/1.8 Opening + 2 megapixel portrait sensor
- Front – 16 megapixel sensor with opening f/2.0
The CMF Phone 1 offers a modest camera settings, if not excellent. The phone provides a popular Sony IMX882 sensor as the main lens in the rear panel, along with a 2 megapixel portrait sensor, which helps take natural bokeh photos.
The photos in broad daylight came to be natural. The contrast looks good, although the dynamic range could have been better. That said, the sharpness is not up to the brand as we have seen in other phones at a similar price level.
In addition, when you change to 2x zoom, the photos seem to be a bit soft and blurred when you approach it. That said, the phone manages to capture human subjects well, and get a natural skin tone of the main camera.
Upon reaching cameras with little light, the CMF 1 phone offers decent results. The noise levels are low, the colors are natural and the light source is not flown.
The portrait mode also works well during the test. However, there are some cases in which edge detection could have been better. Portraits with little light also came to be decent, with wide details and low noise levels.
With respect to the performance of selfies, the CMF Phone 1 offers decent results. The skin tone is close to the fountain and looks natural. However, once again, the dynamic range is limited in the department of selfies. The portrait mode in the selfie works well and you get a decent exit.
CMF Phone 1 battery: fast charge could be better
- Battery capacity – 5,000 mAh
- Cable load – 33W
- Loader – 33W (Not included)
During the battery loop test, the CMF 1 telephone lasted 25 hours and 20 minutes with a single load. However, the load speed was a bit slow compared to the competition.
During the trial period, the phone could load. The headset receives 28 percent in 15 minutes, about 50 percent in 30 minutes, and completes the position in just an hour and 15 minutes with the help of a 33W charger provided by the company.
In real life use, the phone survived a whole day with some remaining battery. Our daily use included reading official emails, listening to music on Amazon Music, displacing Insta reels for a few minutes, playing CODM and take photos.
CMF Telephone 1 verdict
To conclude, the CMF Phone 1 offers an excellent value proposition for money for users. It is good to see the adjustable rear panels that will help change the appearance of the device. With luck, we can get more accessories of the company or a third to support this. The screen looks good and the performance is comparable to other phones in this price segment. The camera seems decent, if not great, at this price.
That said, the CMF 1 phone will go against Moto G85, Redmi Note 13, Infinix Note 40, OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite and more. So, if you are looking for a smartphone to deliver reliable performance and offer some customization in the design, then you can consider the CMF 1 phone.
