Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has requested the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) authorities to sanction loans with lesser interest rates to works under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF).
Mr. Revanth Reddy wanted NABARD to provide loans to micro irrigation projects, and made the requests when NABARD chairman Shaji K.V. called on him on Friday.
He wanted the apex agriculture and rural development bank to take steps to create new cooperative societies and strengthen the existing ones besides introducing new schemes for women self-help groups. NABARD should extend its cooperation to the government to enhance the milling capacity in the State by establishing an effective link between IKP, godowns and rice mills. Officials concerned were directed to ensure utilisation of funds sanctioned under NABARD-sponsored schemes before March 31 besides taking steps to ensure that these schemes were utilised to the maximum extent in the next financial year.
SHG link with NABARD
The Chief Minister wanted the officials to ensure that the maintenance of solar power plants that would be handed over to SHGs was linked with NABARD while steps should be taken to enhance rural connectivity to newly-created panchayats.
The NABARD chairman wanted the Chief Minister to ensure that District Central Cooperative Banks were set up in the new districts.
