At least six dead and 31 injured after the explosion of a tank truck with LPG in the Pakistani province of Punjab. The incident took place in the industrial estate of the Hamid Pur Kanora area of ​​fine, according to rescue authorities.

Initially it was reported that a total of five people lost their lives in the deadly explosion.

However, the dead number increased to six after rescue teams recovered another body from a house damaged by the explosion.

Among the deceased are a younger girl and two women, the report adds.

Police reported that at least 20 houses surrounding the place of the explosion were completely reduced to debris, while 70 suffered partial damage.

The City Police officer (CPO) of Finen, Sadiq Ali, told Geo News that several houses were destroyed and that the cattle died in the fire.

He said there was a gas leakage for one of the valves of the tank truck parked in the industrial polygon.
Some of the people present in the area had already evacuated after smelling the gas before the tank truck exploded, he added.

Ali also said that the gas leakage of the tank truck persists, which led the authorities to evacuate the area.
Among the injured, 13 are in critical condition.

The district emergency officer confirmed that an emergency was declared at the Nishtar Hospital, where the injured are receiving treatment.

Search operations are being carried out in adjacent locations to guarantee security.
The supply of electricity and gas in the area was suspended as a precautionary measure, although the fine-muzaffarh road has already reopened traffic.

Meanwhile, the locals that are kept away from the place of the explosion have been advised since the gas of the tank truck that exploded is in the air.

Subsequently, the Police revealed that the place of the incident was identified as an illegal LPG recharge warehouse and that the explosion occurred during recharge operations. They said that the LPG was being transferred from a large gas deposit to smaller deposits and commercial cylinders on the site.

Police also said that the great gas tank truck allegedly transported smuggling LPG.
Five small and large gas deposits were in the warehouse were destroyed by the explosion, they added.
