Forum for Development of North Andhra (FDNA) general secretary A. Aja Sarma, addressing a seminar on Sunday (March 16, 2025), said that neither the New Pension Scheme (NPS) nor the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) are an alternative to the Old Pension Scheme (OPS).

The seminar was organised by the Defence Employees Coordination Committee at Marripalem VUDA Community Hall.

Mr. Sarma said that UPS was “somewhat better” than the NPS, as pension was declared a ‘payout’ under the UPS. He alleged that the Centre was trying to benefit the corporates by pumping funds into the share market. He called upon employees not to opt for UPS and wage struggles for OPS instead because once they chose their option, there was no way to return to OPS.

NAD Civilian Employees Union honorary president A.V. Thomas and Defence Employees Coordination Committee Chairman Reddy Venkata Rao also spoke.
