Ernakulam North Police arrested two people in relation to the alleged theft of 70 sovereigns of gold ornaments, ₹ 10,000, and documents of a closed house along Desabhimani Road in Kaloor.
Those arrested are Mohidul Islam, 27, and Babu Sohara, 28, from Assam. They were trapped from a desert building near the second platform of the North Train Station on Sunday (January 26). According to the reports, around seven sovereigns and ₹ 13,000 were recovered from the arrests.
The police should not locate the rest of the ornaments, even when the defendant allegedly gave contradictory statements. The defendants were produced in the Court and sent.
The alleged robbery took place in the early hours of Friday (January 24). The house had remained locked since March 2024.
