Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) trust board member and BJP state spokesperson G. Bhanuprakash Reddy has termed as ‘unfortunate’ the attempt by a group of saints and seers to stage a dharna at Tirumala, who were detained and shifted from the venue on Monday.
Speaking to the media here on Tuesday, he wondered how the saints and seers could violate the norms laid down in the temple and the rules framed by the TTD management atop the Tirumala hills. He advised the saints to desist from such practices that could “set a wrong precedent and make misguided political leaders take a wrong cue from their behaviour”.
“There is a provision to express protest up to Alipiri, the foot of Tirumala hills. But there are strictly laid down rules against staging any form of protest, demonstration or political activity beyond that. The respected saints should remember this,” he pointed out.
Mr. Bhanuprakash also assured to work together with the aggrieved Hindu leaders and saints to solve the issues raised by them pertaining to Tirumala from time to time.
