“Accept the mandate with humility”: Rahul Gandhi after the Debacle de Delhi of Congress

New Delhi:

While the BJP won a hitting victory in the surveys of the Assembly of Delhi and Congress obtained zero seats, the leader of Congress, Rahul Gandhi, said the party accepts the mandate with humility. He thanked the workers and voters of Congress and said that the opposition party would continue to fight for the progress of the national capital and the rights of its residents.

“We accept Delhi’s public mandate with humility. I thank all the workers of the Congress for their dedication and all the voters for their support. Contamination, price increase and corruption: the struggle for the progress of Delhi and the rights of Delhiites will continue “He said in a position in X.

While the BJP won 48 seats in the assembly of 70 members, the AAP Holder ended at 22. Congress achieved a little flattering hat: zero seats won in three elections in 2015, 2020 and 2025.

The AAP and Congress had played the Lok Sabha elections last year in an alliance, but they could not prevent the BJP from sweeping the seven parliamentary seats in the national capital. Due to local rivalries, the former allies could not reach an agreement for the capital contest.

The solo contests of the AAP and Congress divided the votes of the opposition and in at least 11 votes, the Congress candidates obtained more votes than the BJP Victoria margin. This means that if the two parties had tied, the results would possibly have been against the BJP. However, Congress has said that it was not its responsibility to guarantee AAP’s victory in the capital.

For Congress, the Debacle in Delhi is also a reason for concern because it occurs just after the assembly’s surveys in Haryana and Maharashtra lost despite writing off well in the Lok Sabha elections last year.
