Samsung India employees have been strike again, pressing for several demands, including the restitution of three workers who were suspended by the management recently.
Employees have been organizing a protest sitting at the facilities of the consumer electronic goods factory in Srperumbudur in the Kancheepuram district during the last four days.
The president of the Samsung India employees union, E. Muthukumar, said that employees also protested by the company’s attempts to join a committee formed by him. “This is an attempt to break the union, which formed after a long fight,” he said.
“The staff had been avoiding these attempts from the company and demanding that they will be allowed to comply with Korean management. However, this did not happen, and some [employees] They were suspended under a false appearance last month, ”he said.
A union member said the company had constantly trying to push them to join the committee. “There is an office for that committee within the factory. The company had announced a loan without interest to ₹ 3 Lakh for those who join the committee. The suspensions were treated without even issuing display causes. “
‘Certain workers violated politics’
A Samsung spokesman said: “Samsung does not approve of any illegal action of employees who interrupt industrial peace in the workplace. The company has filed official complaints to the relevant authorities against certain workers who have violated this policy. They will be subject to appropriate disciplinary action after formal investigation and have been suspended to protect the work environment and other workers. This legitimate measure was taken according to all applicable Indian laws. “
“Despite the illegal action of some, most of our workers continue to ensure that normal commercial operations continue. We continue to make efforts towards a collective agreement with our workers to solve the problems and for this we remain open to a dialogue facilitated by the Government, “said the company in its statement.
In addition, he said he had not forced any worker to join the Workers’ Committee or leave the union. The claims of the Union, contrary to the above, are false and misleading, he added.
