Center organizes a consultation with states on biomanocation

After the approval of biotechnology for the economy, the environment and employment (BIOE3) by the Cabinet of the Union last August, the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) organized a consultation with the states on Friday to establish manufacturing facilities of bio-manufacturers in their regions.

Bio-manufacture refers to the industrial manufacture of a variety of products related to chemicals, biopolymers and high value enzymes; intelligent proteins and functional foods; Bio-therapy and resilient climate agriculture precision.

“Currently, several states do not even have a biotechnology manufacturing policy. For the next one, let’s say Biocon, to emerge, we need a close participation between the states and the center, ”said Rajesh Gokhale, secretary of the Biotechnology Department.

“Biotechnology has never been a great fashion word, but I am sure that in the coming years, it will be a massive investments and profits that take initial measures will have an advantage,” said the Minister of Sciences of the Sciences of the Union, Jitendra Singh the conclave.

The road map to achieve this will involve establishing ‘state-centered bioe3 cells’, formulating bioe3 action plans centered on the state, which constitute managerial committees at the state level, appropriate working groups and nodal officials and establish Bio-AI centers, Foundations and manufacturing centers.

States are expected to adopt at least two thematic areas (identified under the Bioe3 policy) Based on their strengths, needs, experience and capacities, ensuring a “localized but integral approach” to promote bio-manufacture and identify some biological products.Including chemicals from the list of priorities for biofabrication, a specified accompanying document.

Several states made presentations about their efforts to promote biotechnology industries. Some said they have had currently in force policies and provide fiscal credits, scholarships and other forms of support for applicants. However, unanimes were largely that without significant support from the center, in terms of direction and background, successfully expanding biotechnology manufacturing would be a challenge.
