The centuries around Steve Smith and Alex Carey gave Australia a dominant advantage in Stumps on day two of the second test against Sri Lanka in Galle on Friday. Australia, leading 73 races at 330-3, was ready to publish a gigantic total of first tickets, with Smith and Carey joining an uninterrupted position of 259 races for the fourth Wickt. Sri Lanka’s bowling players showed some early style, but the spinners fought to get the same effervescence of the surface once the ball lost its bite, and Smith exploded the gap.

The Australian pattern had a rough start and its entries could have been interrupted in 24, when LBW was tried to Nishan Peiris.

However, a timely review saved him and Smith never looked back.

Smith squeezed control over the contest with elegant coverage units and precise shots.

He took some calculated risks and, with Sri Lanka without a substantial total to defend himself, the field soon extended to cut the limits instead of looking for wickts.

That did not deter Australian captain, who crossed the holes with ease when sending nine four and a six.

He mentioned his 36th style proof, pulling Kamindu Mendis part -time to the limit of mid -Wickt.

Carey was promoted to number five instead of Josh Inglis, who was out of the field sick with pain and grabbed his chance, running to his half century in 68 deliveries.

Their hundred came with a well -intermittent sweep to the limit, taking only 118 balls to reach the milestone, and ended with a better of 156 balls of the 156 -ball race that included 13 four and two six.

Sri Lanka was before 257, having resumed his score during the 229-9 night.

Kusal Mendis played a lonely hand with a spectacular 85 was not, but he ran out of partners when Australian bowling players finished tickets after late resistance.

Visitors have already put the Warne-Murali trophy beyond the reach of Sri Lanka, after having taken an impregnable advantage of 1-0 with an overwhelming victory in the first test.

The entrances and humiliation of 242 races stand out as the worst defeat of Sri Lanka in the history of the tests.
