Days after 104 Indians who live illegally in the United States were deported aboard a C-17 GlobeMaster III military plane, sources from Mea reported CNN-NEWS18 that New Delhi has expressed concern to the United States regarding the treatment of deported Indian immigrants.

Early, the MEA said that the issue of the “abuse of the deportees” is “valid” and emphasized that they will continue to address any instance of abuse that attracts their attention.

“On the issue of abuse, it is a valid issue of raising and we continue to emphasize the US authorities that there should be no mistreatment of deportees. We will continue taking any case of abuse that attracts attention, “said Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri.

Measures must be taken throughout the system against the underlying ecosystem that thrives in the promotion of illegal immigration, Misri added.

The statement occurs after some of the deportees who returned to India on Wednesday (February 5) alleged that they were “handcuffed”, with their feet “tied with chains” and “they were not allowed to move an inch of their seats “

An American military plane that transported 104 illegal Indian immigrants landed in Amritssar on Wednesday, the first batch of Indians deported by Donald Trump’s government as part of a repression against illegal immigrants.

Why the military aircraft used for deportation?

In response to a media consultation on why military planes were used to deport immigrants, Misri said that the United States used military airplanes, since it described the problem as a national security operation.

“This particular deportation is something different compared to the previous flights. In the American system itself, it was described as a national security operation, so that is why they used a military plane, “said Misri.

When asked about the protests after the deportation of illegal Indian immigrants in the United States in 2012, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri declared that he did not believe that there were protests and that there was no record of any protest in this regard.

487 Indians in the US

Misri announced that the United States had informed India about 487 alleged Indian nationals who have received expulsion orders.

During a press conference, the Foreign Secretary said the Indian government is in communication with the Trump administration to guarantee the safe return of those identified as illegal immigrants.

The Indian government is closely monitoring the situation and working with the US authorities to solve the problems related to these people, Misri added.

S JAISHANKAR section on deportation

Eam Jaishankar said Thursday in Rajya Sabha that the deportation of Indians who entered the United States illegally is not a change of the past. He shared the list of such deportations since 2009.

The Minister of the Union also requested an offensive against the illegal immigration industry. Jaishankar said the government is discovering how illegal migration occurred.

“All countries must recover their nationals if they find that they live illegally abroad,” he said.

Citing data available from the Indian police authorities, said the minister in 2009, 734 were deported, 799 in 2010, 597 in 2011, 530 in 2012 and 515 in 2013.

According to Jaishankar’s statement, in 2014, when the Government of the NDA came to power, 591 were deported, followed by 708 in 2015. In 2016, a total of 1,303, 1,024 in 2017 and 1,180 in 2018 were deported.
