The former minister of the Union and senior leader of Congress, Chinta Mohan, on Friday (February 7) said that social justice cannot be achieved by categorizing the scheduled castes (SCS).
Going to a press conference in Machilipatnam, he said that it has not been mentioned anywhere in the Constitution that SC submissions should be divided. “To achieve social justice, there should be categorization of the positions of main ministers, … national wealth and the positions of judges of the Supreme Court,” he said, added that two castes ruled India Independent for 70 of his 75 years of existence.
He said that among the 33 judges in the Supreme Court, 20 belonged to the Brahman community. “This is precisely the reason I say that there should be categorization of the positions of Judge of the Supreme Court.
The Congress leader said that Indira Gandhi had nationalized private banks with the noble intention of distributing the richness of the nation to all sections. “There must be categorization in the distribution of … national wealth, and SCS, STS and OBC must obtain 50% of bank loans.” He said that although SCS and STS constituted 25 % of the country’s population, banks gave them less than 1 % of total loans.
He reiterated that he strongly opposed the SC categorization recommended by the Mishra Commission and demanded the abolition of the commission. He described the Dalits division a conspirator idea and argued that this same reason had resulted in the state’s bifurcation.
