A man died from suicide and filmed the act after claiming torture and harassment by the police in Jammu and Kathmir’s Kathua. The incident has caused indignation among the locals seeking justice.
Police ordered a high -level investigation, where an officer of the Range of the Deputy Inspector (DIG) was told to present a report within 10 days.
In the video, Makhan Din, 25, a tribal man from the Bilawar area of Kathua, said that he is dying for suicide so that no one else is subjected to torture and humiliation by the police in the way he was subjected .
Jammu and Kashmir’s prime minister, Omar Abdullah, has discussed the matter with the central government and demanded an investigation with limit. He also said that the government of Jammu and Cashmiro would initiate his investigation.

Before his death, the man talked about his loyalty to the police and had no links to the terrorists. He claimed that he was tortured during custody and forced to confess his links to terrorists.
This is the second incident of this type in less than two years when someone died for suicide for alleged police harassment in Jammu and Kashmir.
In April 2023, Mukhtar Hussain Shah died for suicide and filmed it after claiming the police torture in the Ponch district. Shah alleged torture during the interrogation in relation to the attack and had recorded a 10 -minute video before consuming a little poison. He died in a hospital in Rajouri yesterday.
In another incident, a truck driver was killed in the army’s shot after he allegedly stopped at a control point in the Baramulla district in northern Kashmir. The army said they chased the truck for 23 km after the driver did not stop before opening the fire.
