The reconstruction of the Alappuzha-Changanassery road (AC) has entered its final phase. According to the Kerala State Transportation project (KSTP), almost all the main works have been completed, except the Pallathuruthy bridge.

According to the original plan, the project, with the aim of avoiding the flood of the road during the Monzón season, was scheduled for its completion in 2023. However, the government extended the deadline. The project was mainly delayed due to the time that the Government took to approve the revised estimate for the construction of a parallel bridge in Pallathuruthy.

The road of 24.14 km is being rebuilt at a cost of ₹ 671.66 million rupees under the Kerala reconstruction initiative. “Work is progressing quickly with the aim of completely opening the way in three to four months. When the project is completed, the final cost is expected to touch ₹ 880.72 million rupees, ”said a KSTP official.

The project includes the construction of four main bridges, five semi -said high steps, 14 minor bridges, three roads and 64 sewers, among other works. The authorities said that, in addition to the final touches, all the other work in the Kinangara, Nedumudi and Muttar bridges had been completed. In the case of the Pallathuruthy bridge, approximately 60% of the work had been completed.

Five high steps have been opened in Pandarakalam, Nazareth Junction, Jyothi Junction, Mankombu and Onnamkara. Similarly, all small bridges, roads and sewers have opened. The road surface is also about to finish, with 98% of the work that dense bituminous macadam uses and 90% of the finished bituminous concrete work. In addition, 99% of the land leveling work of more than 7 km has been completed.

The two -lane road with trails has a width of 13 meters. Acaad’s work is being carried out by a joint business of the Cooperative Society of the Uralungal and Evrascon labor contract.
