The Minister of External Affairs, S. Jaishankar, while making a declaration on the deportation of Indian migrants from the United States in Rajya Sabha on Thursday (February 6, 2025), said that the center will take exemplary measures against traffickers of people .
“It is the obligation of all countries to recover their nationals if they are living illegally abroad,” said Foreign Minister.
“It is of our collective interest to promote legal mobility, discourage illegal movement. Our approach should be in a strong repression of illegal migrants, ”added the minister.

The minister also shared deportation details of the United States since 2009.
“We are committed to the US government to ensure that the deportees are not mistreated,” said Mr. Jaishankar.
“The deportations of the United States are organized and executed by the application of immigration and customs [ICE]. The standard operating procedure for aircraft deportation, as of 2012, establishes the use of restrictions, ”said Mr. Jaishankar.
“The deportation process is not new, it has been there for several years. This is not a policy applicable to a single country, “he added.
The minister also said that women and children were not restricted.

An American military plane that transported 104 illegal Indian immigrants landed in Amritssar on Wednesday, the first batch of Indians deported by the Donald Trump administration as part of a repression against illegal immigrants.
Of these, 33 each was from Haryana and Gujarat, 30 from Punjab, three each of Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, and two from Chandigarh.
