New Delhi:

The UN Chief warned Wednesday against ethnic cleaning in Gaza when he rejected the bomb proposal of the president of the United States, Donald Trump, so that the United States takes control of the Palestinian territory and displaced all its people.

Trump, at a White House press conference on Tuesday along with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, amazingly proposed “Gaza’s long -term property” by the United States, which caused an international uproar.

The comments occurred after having repeatedly called in recent days so that residents of the territory devastated by the war move to Jordan or Egypt.

“In its essence, the exercise of the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people is about the right of the Palestinians to simply live as human beings in their own land,” said the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres. The rights of the Palestinians.

But, he added, “we have seen the realization of those rights that are constantly fading out of reach.”

“We have seen a systematic and chilling dehumanization and demonization of an entire town,” Guterres said.

Guterres said that nothing justified Hamas attack on October 7, 2023 against Israel that caused the war in Gaza, but “the catalog of destruction and indescribable horrors” that occurred when Israel attacked Gaza relentlessly in retaliation could not be justified either.

The UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric, specifically asked Trump’s proposal, said “any forced displacement of people is equivalent to ethnic cleaning.”

“It is vital that we remain faithful to the basis of international law. It is essential to avoid any form of ethnic cleaning.”

After an international protest, Trump administration officials tried to return Trump’s proposal on Wednesday, saying that any displacement of the Palestinians of Gaza would be temporary, while the territory largely destroyed is rebuilt.

Trump had not promised to deploy US troops to carry out his plan, they said.

Guterres insisted on the idea of a solution of two states with Israel and the Palestinians who live side by side in peace.

“Any lasting peace will require tangible, irreversible and permanent progress towards the solution of two states, the end of the occupation and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, with Gaza as an integral part,” he said.

To that end, the Palestinian envoy of the UN Riyad Mansour requested an “successful” international conference at the United Nations to discuss the issue, scheduled for June and co -presided by Saudia Arabia and France.

Even with large parts of North Gaza in ruins, hundreds of thousands of Palestinians have returned since the end of January, under a fragile truce that has stopped more than 15 months of war.

North of Gaza, which includes the city of Gaza, has been devastated by Israel’s military offensive launched after Hamas attack in 2023, with homes, hospitals, schools and almost all flattened civil infrastructure.

Mansour reiterated the rejection of the Palestinians of Trump’s plan to take care of Gaza.

“We are not going to leave Gaza,” he said. “It is part of our homeland, and we don’t have a homeland other than the state of Palestine.”

He added that the Palestinians would be “delighted” to return to their homes in the present Israel where they were “expelled.”
