A federal judge issued a second temporary control over the executive order of President Donald Trump with the aim of ending the citizenship of birth rights for children born in the United States to parents who reside illegally. The United States District Judge, Deborah Boardman, ruled on Wednesday that no court in the country has supported the interpretation of the Trump administration of the fourteenth amendment, which guarantees citizens to all persons born or naturalized in the United States.

Judge Boardman’s ruling followed a similar temporary mandate issued previously in the state of Washington, where a judge considered that the “blatantly unconstitutional” order. The administration policy, announced during Trump’s opening week, has faced intense opposition, with 22 states and several organizations that present demands to block executive action.

The legal challenge is being directed by immigrant rights groups such as Casa and the Defense Project of Asylum applicants, along with a group of future mothers. They argue that the citizenship of birth law is a cornerstone of American democracy and has been an integral part of the laws of the nation since the fourteenth amendment was ratified in 1868, particularly after the civil war.

In the heart of the dispute is the affirmation of the Trump administration that children born to non -citizens are not “subject to the jurisdiction” of the United States and, therefore, do not have the right to citizens. The plaintiffs, however, argue that the language of the fourteenth amendment guarantees citizens to all persons born on American soil, regardless of their parents’ immigration state.

The controversy has attracted generalized legal challenges. While 22 states with general Democratic prosecutors seek to stop the executive order, 18 Republican general prosecutors are supporting the president’s position by joining demands in other states, such as New Hampshire.

This continuous legal battle over birth citizenship highlights deep divisions on immigration policy in the United States and long -term implications for US families and communities. The final decision could shape the nation’s approach to citizens in the coming years.
