A violent mafia assaulted the historical residence of the founding leader of Bangladesh, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, in Dhanmondi 32 on Wednesday night, according to a report by Dhaka Tribune, the destructive uproar left the property seriously damaged. The attack followed an online speech by former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who caused outrage among the protesters who had previously declared plans to celebrate a march of excavators in retaliation.
Initially, the protesters had threatened to demolish the house at 9 pm (local time), but they arrived an hour before and opened the door and opened the door and loaded inside, added the report. Upon entering, the protesters destroyed the facilities while sanging slogans against Sheikh Hasina. Declaging the chamber a symbol of “authoritarianism and fascism”, they promised to eliminate any trace of what they called “very much.” Some protesters even requested the execution of Sheikh Hasina.
As the tensions intensified, the protesters went up to the second floor, using hammers, levers and wooden planks to crush portraits of the sheikh Mujibur Rahman and damage several sections of the house. The violent attack left the historical property in ruins, with shattered frames, broken furniture and walls disfigured with testimony of destruction, according to Dhaka Tribune.
Dhanmondi 32 residence attack
It should be noted here that this is not the first time that the Dhanmondi 32 residence has been attacked. On August 5 of last year after the collapse of the Awami League, a furious mafia had previously attacked the house, burning parts and causing extensive damage. The last assault on this historical property describes the growing disturbances and deep political divisions in Bangladesh. The authorities have not yet confirmed the scope of the damage or any immediate security measure in response to the attack.
