Asus recently launched the new TUF Gaming A14 with the latest AMD Ryzen chips, which promise to offer excellent energy efficiency and efficiency along with greater abilities of AI. The TUF Gaming A14, in paper, seems to be an incredible choice for someone looking to buy a compact game laptop, which are not many. While the new A14, especially the Chipset Ryzen Ai 9 variant, might not align with the reputation of TUF seriousness for affordability, it offers a lot for money.
The variant with the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 SOC, which we receive for review, costs rs. 1,69,990. It is also equipped with 32 GB of RAM, storage of 2 TB and a GPU NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 with 8GB VRM. All that is full of a compact and light body that looks like a normal laptop. Should you buy this? Keep reading to find out.
Asus TUF Gaming A14 Design: It feels hard, it’s difficult
- Dimensions – 311 x 227 x 16.9 mm
- Weight – 1.46 kg
- Colors – Jaeger Gray
The TUF Gaming A14 entails a minimalist approach to design, and there is nothing that suggests that it is a laptop for games. It has a metal lid with a matte finish and the TUF logo, and that’s all. There is no RGB lighting on the laptop, but you get four system LEDs that form a ‘X’ pattern on the slightly outstanding rear edge. This is more visible when the lid is closed.
The lower panel is also metal, and is mainly covered with admission grilles in the form of a diamond. The rear edge houses the exhaust ports. When you open the lid, you will find matte finish plastic panels, which tend to collect some digital footprints and spots. There are two hinges holding the upper half, which seem resistant and can reach 180 complete degrees.
Asus has managed to give TUF Gaming A14 a MIL-STD-810H certification, which means that it can support approximate use and survive hard conditions. Nor does it weigh much and is lighter than most other laptops in the same segment. It really is portable and easy to carry.
For connectivity, the left side houses a reversible patented load port, an HDMI 2.1 port, a USB type C port, a type A USB port and a combined audio connector of 3.5 mm. The right side presents a USB type A and USB Type C port along with a microSD card slot.
ASUS TUF GAMING A14 Display: Ideal for Games
- 14-inch IPS size and pavement with anti-glare coating
- Resolution – 2.5K (2560 x 1600 pixels)
- Update speed – 165Hz
On the front of the screen, the TUF Gaming A14 offers a good package for mobile players. The 14 -inch IPS panel may not be super brilliant as OLED, but provides characteristics centered on the games, such as a quick update speed of 165Hz, 2.5K resolution, 3 ms response time and NVIDIA GSYNC support. Color reproduction is good, but the anti-glare finish means that the colors appear off when watching movies or television programs.
The panel offers an appearance ratio of 16:10 and 100 percent SRGB color support. It obtains thin bezels on the sides and a body by body of 88 percent. If your main objective with this laptop is play in motion, the screen will work very well, even if you are playing outdoors. There is also a Switch Mux and Nvidia Advanced Optimus Support. Asus also allows you to change color profiles using the Armory Crate application.
ASUS TUF GAMING A14 Keyboard, touch panel, speakers and webcam
- Keyboard – Chiclet Retroiluminated with Copilot Key
- Speakers – 2 x 1W with Dolby Atmos
- Webcam: 1080p with IR sensor
I have come to love the keyboards on the laptops Asus Gaming, and it does not disappoint. There are 1.7 mm travel and good space between the keys, which makes this an excellent keyboard to write. You also get four additional keys on the upper left side, and the arrow keys are all the same size and shape. The keyboard also offers mini LED backlight, which, although super bright, is only available in a single white color. If it weren’t for the Arrate Crate key or the hexagonal ignition button, one could easily confuse this with a regular laptop. There is also a co -pilot key here if you need it.
Asus has provided a large glass tactile bread on the laptop, which worked very well during the review. It has an appearance of 16:10, reflecting the screen. The tactile panel also managed to avoid ghost touches when played. It has a 240Hz report rate, and the clicks were also satisfactory.
What was not satisfactory was the torque on the laptop. They are average at best, they lack bass, and are not great when playing. Although they can become loud, it is not the best audio experience due to the location. It is better to plug a good pair of headphones for cable games or connect your favorite wireless headphones when you play or see content. Dolby Atmos works better when connected to the headphones.
Finally, the 1080p webcam on the laptop is above average. He works well when there is a lot of light, but it is loud in low light conditions. Color reproduction is decent. He gets IR sensors for Windows Hello Support, but there is no privacy shutter of the physical chamber.
ASUS TUF GAMING A14 SOFTWARE: You get what you need
- OS – Windows 11 Start
- ADDITIONAL APPLICATIONS – ARMORY Crate
The laptop run Windows 11 at home home, and you get Microsoft Office Home and Student as usual. Asus also wraps McAfee antivirus, which is more a nuisance that helps. The arsenal cash tool included is useful, since it allows you to customize various aspects of the laptop. You can also easily change between performance profiles using this tool. The Arrate Crate button in the upper left of the keyboard also facilitates switching profiles.
The CPU Ryzen AI 9 on the laptop presents a powerful NPU so that it can execute AI programs. Thanks to the dedicated key, you have access to co -pilot+ chatbot as long as you need it. The chatbot can help you get quick responses to consultations, summarize the text and even control the Windows configuration.
ASUS TUF GAMING A14 Performance: Much more than Games
- Processor: even AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370
- RAM – UP TO 32 GB LPDDR5X 7500MHZ (not update)
- Storage: Up to 2TB (updateable at 4TB)
- GPU – Until Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 with 8GB VRM
AMD’s new Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 is a powerful chipset, and that was shown during the entire revision period. It is a 12 -core CPU with 24 wire and an improved NPU XDNA that is good for up to 50 tops. The laptop also obtains an integrated 890M GPU, which I found quite good in terms of performance.
Speaking of performance, I executed a couple of synthetic reference points on the laptop to see how he did. If you observe the scores below, the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 has managed to overcome its Apple and Intel flagship sets. The reference points also show that the laptop offers a better performance of the games than some of its rivals, such as the HP Transcend Omit 14.
Benchmark | ASUS TUF A14 |
---|---|
Geekbench 6 single | 2,775 |
Geekbench 6 Multi | 14,765 |
Geekbigh 6 GPU | 92,212 |
3DMark Steel Nomad (GPU) | 2,196 |
3DMark Time Spy (GPU) | 10,475 |
3DMark Night Raid (GPU) | 59,649 |
Cinebench R23 simple | 1,872 |
Cinebench R23 Multi | 21,972 |
PCMARK 10 | 8,165 |
Geekbench AI (GPU) | 12,742 (quantified) |
For daily tasks, with the profile established in silence, the laptop worked quite well. I really did not face any slow behavior while executing multiple tabs in Chrome, along with a couple of other applications. If you plan to use it for work, you will not have problems with this. In the silent profile, fans barely come on.
In Turbo mode, which is better for games, the laptop offers strong performance. I played several titles, such as Forza Horizon 5, Hogwarts Legacy, Mafia III Remasterized, Star Wars Jedi Survivor, and managed to obtain speeds of respectable pictures (60 to 120 on average) to a resolution of 1200p. The laptop is hot and noisy when playing, but it is incredible how Asus has managed to offer both a laptop so thin and light.
The GPU NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 4060 can obtain up to 110 W of power in manual mode, while the processor can deliver a maximum TDP of 65W. While the RAM is soldier and not update, you get a m.2 slot that admits a storage of up to 2 TB for a total of 4 TB.
ASUS TUF GAMING A14 BATTERY: EXCELLENT
- Capacity – 73Wh
- Load – 200W
Another advantage of the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor is its efficiency, which, combined with the large battery on the laptop, offers an excellent support battery. I was pleasantly surprised by the battery life I obtained at the Asus Tuf Gaming A14. For the first time in my life, I survived a complete 9 -hour work day with a laptop for games. In the silent profile and the administration of Windows batteries established in Balanced, the laptop administered around 6-7 hours of regular editorial work easily.
When the battery was almost empty, loading the laptop was fast, thanks to the 200 W brick supplied in the box. A full load takes approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes, while 50 percent is achieved in approximately 30 minutes.
ASUS TUF GAMING A14 VERDICT
I will keep the simple verdict. If you are looking for a compact, light and powerful laptop in which you can play, the ASUS TUF Gaming A14 is very difficult not to recommend. It has a good screen, the battery life is excellent, you can play AAA games without worrying, there is a lot of ram and storage, many ports and it is super laptop.
The ASUS TUF Gaming A14 does not have much competition in the segment. There is the Rog Zephyrus G14 of its stable, which is better but more expensive. Then it has the HP Omen Trascend 14 (review), which, although cheaper, does not offer the same performance or efficiency.
