Prime Minister Siddaramaiah said in Suttur on Friday that the teachings and values of the social reformer of the 12th century Basavehwara were also reflected in the Constitution that was to establish an egalitarian society with the same rights for all.

I was talking after participating in the Suttur Jathra Mahotsava in Nanjangud Taluk of the Mysuru district. The prime minister visited the Mahadeshwara temple in Suttur and offered special sentences and then addressed the public.

He said that the main objective of the Constitution was to establish a secular and egalitarian society and Basavanna also advocated a society without foundry and equal.

He said that those who follow Basavanna’s principles should realize this aspect and avoid casteism, religious differences and strive to eliminate the scourge of superstition and discrimination of caste.

Mr. Siddaramaiah said that the country had only ensured political freedom, but had not yet enjoyed economic freedom or establish social equality as provided in the Constitution.

Even Br Ambedkar had echoed the same opinion in the Constituent Assembly and was even valid in the current times, he added.

Mr. Siddaramaiah gave that, although more than 850 years passed since Basavanna preached the equality of humanity, people had not avoided the habit of practicing casteism or had not given up questioning the background of the caste of individuals.

He also regretted that educated people believe in the concept of destiny and attributed it to the past karmas. The Constitution recognized people based on their merit and talent and not of caste, and the need for the time was to ensure that the people of the lowest socioeconomic history were not deprived of opportunities, said Mr. Siddaramaiah.

He praised the contribution of Suturt Mutt in the field of education and Dasoha. In this context, the main minister lashed out that in those critics of the guarantee schemes and the scheme of Anna Bhagya and said he would benefit the poor. “Only those who have not worked hard in life but who have fattened at the expense of others, oppose,” he said.

He also attacked in the BJP, saying that his leaders opposed the guarantee schemes of Congress, but now replicated in the United States governed by them.

Sutur Mutt Seer Shivraratri Deshikendra Swami, HKpatil Ministers and HCMAHADEVAPPA were present.
