Cybernetic slavery: CB-CID arrests illegal recruitment agents in TN

The Branch of the Crime of the Police of Tamil Nadu arrested five illegal recruitment agents for charges of attracting young people to lucrative job offers abroad and deceiving them.

As part of the investigation in cases of cyber slavery, the agency arrested alias de Fajesh Rajadurai of Virudhunagar, Pio Leo Raj and Mohamed Sheik Meeran, by Chennai, Gowtham of Sivagangai and Damotharan de Tiprupur.

They had allegedly sent employment applicants to countries, including Myanmar, Cambodia and Laos, where they were caught in fraud compounds and forced to make cyberfrauds deceiving people worldwide. They were subjected to cruelty and physical abuse if they refused to cooperate, according to a press release.

The accused were reserved under several provisions of the BNS and Emigration Law of 1983. The CB-Cid is the Nodal Agency to handle cybernetic slavery in Tamil Nadu. The agency has registered 24 cases so far.
