A high -level committee (HLC), chaired by the Interior Minister of the Union, Amit Shah, approved RS 3,027.86 million rupees for disaster mitigation projects in several states.

In addition, the Committee approved a mitigation project focused on lightning safety in 10 states, with a total disbursement of RS 186.78 million rupees. The covered states are Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh and Western Bengala.

The Committee also approved a scheme for the management of forest fire risk, aimed at 144 high priority districts in 19 states, with a total disbursement of RS 818.92 million rupees.

The central participation of the NDMF and NDRF will be RS 690.63 million rupees. The main objective of this scheme is to transform forest fire management in India strengthening and supporting critical activities for the prevention and mitigation of forest fires.
