Washington:

The Trump Administration has announced that it will assign seats in the Information Room of the White House Press to representatives of “new media” outlets, including podcasters, influencers of social networks and content creators.

This movement, headed by press secretary Karoline Leavitt, aims to provide representation to groups that had not previously had a presence in the information room.

“Millions of Americans, particularly young, have moved away from television and traditional newspapers to consume news through podcasts, blogs, social networks and other independent platforms,” Leavitt said Tuesday during his first daily press session.

“It is crucial for our team widely sharing President Trump’s message and adapting the White House to the 2025 media outrage,” Leavitt said.

With only 27 years, Leavitt is the youngest White House Secretary in history.

He invited independent journalists, podcasters, influencers of social networks and content creators to request press credentials from the White House through the recently launched website, Whitehouse.gov/newmedia.

He also revealed that a front row in the information room, traditionally reserved for the press of the press secretary, will now be appointed the “new media seat.” The applications will be reviewed by the Leavitt team, and credentials will be granted to those who meet the criteria and approve the security requirements of the Secret Service of the United States.

During his first informative session, Leavitt sent questions of new media representatives, including the points of sale that are among the most seen news websites in the country, but they have never had a seat in the information room.

When asked about the initiative, Leavitt reiterated the administration’s commitment to defend the first amendment.

“It is a fact that Americans, especially young people, are consuming news of a variety of platforms. As the youngest press secretary in history, thanks to President Trump, I am proud to open this room to the voices of the new media for Guaranteeing the president’s message reaches as many Americans as possible, “he said.

He added: “We will ensure that the respected points of sale and Breitbart have a permanent seat in this room every day. We also encourage anyone in the country, whether it is a Tiktok creator, blogger, podcaster or any Another type of content. The measure marks a significant change in the White House approach to the commitment of the media, reflecting the ways in which Americans access and consume news in the digital age.

Leavitt also emphasized administration’s commitment to the first amendment, announcing plans to restore press passes for 440 journalists whose credentials were revoked under the previous administration.

“This White House firmly believes in the first amendment, so we are working diligently to restore press passes to journalists who were wrongly denied access. In addition, we are opening this information room to the voices of the new media that They produce content related to news, but currently.
