Sao Paulo:
Two people were killed on Friday when a small plane crashed into a Gran Vía in the economic capital of Brazil, Sao Paulo, escaped by little heavy traffic and slid to a bus, authorities said.
The plane, which transported two people, slipped hundreds of meters along the avenue, passing in front of a tail of dozens of vehicles waiting in a traffic light, according to the images shown in the local media.
Then he hit a bus and exploded, said Fire Chief Ronaldo Melo to journalists.
The pilot and a passenger were killed in the accident, which occurred shortly after the King Air F90 took off from the champion airport of Mars, which manages national flights.
Six people were injured, Melo said.
The bus passengers managed to escape, some of which were left with “bruises.” A motorcyclist who passed also fell and received medical attention.
The images transmitted on local television showed thick smoke columns that take over the air, however, firefighters quickly put the fire under control.
The researchers are on the scene “taking photos and interviewing people who witnessed the clash of the plane” to establish the circumstances of the accident, said Melo.
He said it was not clear if the plane had been trying an emergency landing at the time of the accident.
Brazil has seen several small dramatic air accidents in recent months.
According to the statistics of the Center for Research and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (CENPA), there were 20 accident accidents in January, with eight murdered people.
These mainly involved agricultural airplanes and private planes.
In 2024, the country registered the largest number of aircraft accidents in the last 10 years, with 175 accidents and 152 deaths.
Last August, Brazil suffered its worst aerial tragedy in 17 years, when a plane crashed in the city of Vinhedo in the state of Sao Paulo, killing at 62 on board.
