New Albany, Ohio – One person has died and another five were injured in a shooting on Tuesday night in a cosmetics warehouse in Ohio, authorities said.
The victims have been transported to hospitals and it is no longer believed that the suspect is in the building, said Josh Pole, a spokesman for the city of New Albany.
New Albany police chief Greg Jones described the shooting just before 11 pm as a “type of directed attack” and said officials do not believe that the suspect represents a general threat to the public.
“We have an interest person and we are looking to locate them and put them in custody,” he said during a press conference. A firearm was found on the scene.
The shooting occurred in the warehouse of a company that manufactures products, including cosmetics and dressing tables. The police did not immediately provide a reason for shooting or conditions of the injured.
Some 150 people were evacuated to a neighboring building, according to Jones.
